'Getting Better Together' Conference Leeds, 24/03/09
Feedback:
Dear Carol,
I am writing to thank you for your very helpful case study at the
workshop at the conference in Leeds. Conference participants said how
much they got out of the session and very much appreciated your
contribution to the day.
Your workshop set a really good tone for the day and got people thinking
about how to do things better and work towards a more genuine and
effective approach to engagement.
Kind regards,

Transgender Awareness Workshop Wakefield Probation Service 11-02-09
Feedback from 2 participants
From: Dave Reid, Many thanks for your wonderful workshop.I attach attender feedback .......
"A marvellous opportunity to explore and heighten awareness of issues outside my day-to-day experience."
"I decided to attend the Transgender workshop as I am currently offender supervisor for 2 transgender women here at HMP New Hall whose issues are very complex and I wanted to increase my knowledge in this area. I felt the presentation was excellent and the facilitator spoke about her very personal experiences which was extremely helpful. The links to other websites were also helpful and her response to my question about other support agencies was taken back to the workplace to assist me in my work with this client group. "
" Carol made me aware of the difficulties faced by many people born into the wrong gender.Although positive steps have been taken in recent years, there is still a long way to go in improving understanding. That she was able to talk from personal experience made the content all the more poignant and relevant."
Very best wishes for your work.

May 27th: LGB&T Awareness presentation. Board of Trustees Action Housing & Support.
Hi Carol,
The Trustees valued getting an outsider’s perspective on the issues and how they affect our organisation. When you’re so closely involved with the day-to-day running of the organisation, it’s often easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, especially in terms of equality, diversity and accessibility, and your presentation was an effective and interesting solution to that problem.
The Trustees were especially interested to hear your case studies. We were all shocked that situations like this can still arise in the workplace and although we’re absolutely confident that Action Housing would never find itself guilty of such outrageous discrimination, it’s important for us all to be aware of the risks and the significance of good working practices that do not exclude any individual, either directly or indirectly.
For the management team, the most valuable aspect of your talk was the awareness-raising factor and it will help us keep these issues at the forefront of our Trustees’ minds. After all, it’s crucial that they are aware of the issues if they’re to act as an effective board of governance for the organisation.
I’d like to pass on their thanks and my sincere appreciation for your taking the time to talk to us.
Thanks again Carol.
Best wishes,
Matt Barker
